Product Description

Project Report on BABY NIPPLE [EIRI-1416]

Silicon  rubbers  have been produced commercially  for  above  25 years,  the  first patent being applied for in 1944.  Their  high cost  of  manufacture, the initial difficulty of  achieving  good physical   properties, and the need for, special techniques  were probably    responsible    for  their  technical  and  commercial development being, for the rubber industry on unorthodox   lines. The  producers did  not offer the raw  polymers  to  the   rubber processor   to  compound  himself,  but  rather  formulated,  and supplied  ready - mixed materials requiring only forming, by  one of the usual processes, and vulcanizing. Subsequently, a few gums were  made  available  and over the years, some  of  the  special technology required to be applied to them has disclosed. Silicons rubbers  constitute  are  of the newest classes  of  rubber  like polymers. These exhibit unique physical and  chemical properties.  Chemically  they  are specially prepared   polymers  of  purified dimethyl  siloxane  in which the reaction is controlled  to  give  linear  chains of  several thousand units.  The unique properties of silicone polymers are particially explained by  the fact  that  bond  energy of silicone oxygen linkage is  about  1.5 times   as  strong  as the C - C linkage in  hydrocarbon  polymers.  Although the  polymer is saturated it can be vulvanised by heating with  a source   of  free  radicals  such  as   benzyol   peroxde.    The outstanding  characteristics  of silicon rubbers  is  their  very broad  useful temperature range (from - 100 to + 500oF). In  this range  flexibility resilience, and tensile strength are  retained to an amaging degree.
