A rubber roller is in fact a cylinder of rubber bounded to a metallic core. The rubber cylinder protects the metallic core against chemical attack and protects the material being handled against damage. Rollers are used for application of liquid to or wiping a liquid off a surface, squeezing liquid out of a substract and sometimes giving a mild abrasion to the material surface. The suitability of a rubber roller for a particular application will mainly depend on the merit of the rubber compound to meet the service requirements.
